The following obituary was reprinted from the Seward County Independent newspaper dated Wednesday, December 12, 1984; pg.27.

PHOEBE POTTER
Phoebe Cary Potter, 86, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 1. She was born at Louisville on April 8, 1898, to William and Mary (McMuller) Spence. She married Harry Potter at North Platte in 1933. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and taught math and commercial arts in Nebraska high schools for more than 29 years, retiring in 1975 and making her home in Lincoln. She was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Plymouth and Tom of Lincoln, two daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Jack) Sexton and Harriett Schaeffer, both of Lincoln; a step-son, Loren Potter of Scottsbluff; a step-daughters, Luella Potter of Hubbell; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Wood Brothers Chapel, Seward, Pastor Marvin Koelling officiating.
