Mrs. Sarah Catherine Eakle, widow of the late Caleb Eakle, died at 4 o'clock this morning at her home at [?] Way, from heart trouble, aged 83 years, 4 months and 7 days. She was only ill and confined to her bed one day, and this was the first serious illness she had in many years. Mrs. Eakle was born in the county and was a Miss Bear before marriage. She was widely known in the community for her acts of charity and affection for her neighbors and held in the highest esteem. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Dunkard church for nearly fifty years. Her husband died two years ago at the age of 85 years. Mrs. Eakle is survived by two children, Miss Laura at home, and Marion C. Eakle of Half Way, and two grandchildren, Ione and Catherine; sisters, Mrs. John Hightman, Burkittsville, and Miss Anna Bear, Hagerstown. Funeral from the house Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock; services by Rev. A. B. Miller assisted by Revs. G. I. Rider and A. M. Evers; interment in Rose Hill cemetery. Pallbearers: John N. Bowers, William Kendall, Aaron Baum, Frank McCusker, James E. Wolf, David Miller.
