Obituary Bismarck Tribune (July 11, 2009)
Veronica "Fronie" Freidt, 94, Mandan, died July 9, 2009, at her home with her loving family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant and the Rev. Jerome Kautzman as con-celebrant and homilist. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a parish rosary/vigil at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Veronica was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Judson to John and Agatha (Anton) Wetsch. On May 25, 1943, she married Christ Freidt at St. Vincent's Church in Crown Butte. First and foremost, Veronica will be remembered as a wonderful mother. She fulfilled her role as a mother with a positive attitude and sense of humor, and always a smile. A high point for her was to be with her family. These events usually included cooking large meals of the German recipe variety. She enjoyed a competitive game of pinochle, especially the winning part when playing with her children. Having lived at Library Square for a number of years she became known as Grandma to all who lived there and they will miss her very much.

Left with fond memories are five daughters, Kathy (Louis) Pittman, Garrison, Pat (David) Barry, Dickinson, Betty (Don) Bleth, Grand Forks, and Donna (Jim) Leingang and Michelle Siegel, both of Mandan; two sons, Chris (Jackie) Freidt and Tom (Cherie) Freidt, both of Mandan; one son-in-law, Ron (Barb) Koch, Bismarck; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Christ, in 1991; one daughter, Maria Koch; two sons, infant Christ Jr. and James who died in 1967 in Vietnam; her parents; one son-in-law, Bryan Siegel; and all of her siblings.

A special thank you to St. Alexius Hospice for their compassion and care given to Veronica and her family. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
