LIBERTY - Marvin Hymas, 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 at the Logan, Utah Regional Hospital secondary to aspiration pneumonia following a recent hip fracture.


He was born on March 4, 1916, in Liberty, Idaho, to Joseph Manasseh and Emma Jane Lyon Hymas.


On Oct 4, 1939, he married Anton Lenora Cook in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Following their marriage they chose to raise their family on the dairy farm in Liberty.


As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as counselor in the ward bishopric, bishop for 10 years, stake Sunday school president, ward financial clerk, Scout master, YMMIA president and elder's quorum president.


He enjoyed his grandchildren riding the four-wheeler, carpentry and attending dairy shows and sales.


Marvin is survived by five children, Glade (Judy) Hymas of Liberty, Dennis (Janis) Hymas of Farmington, Utah, Steven (Carole) Hymas of North Salt Lake, Utah, Dale (Sally) Hymas of Liberty and Dorene Hymas of Logan Utah; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, his parents, six sisters, one brother and one grandson.


Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 30 at noon in the Liberty LDS ward chapel. Friends may visit with family at Matthews Mortuary on Sunday evening, Jan. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and on Monday morning at the church in Liberty from 10 to 11:45 a.m. The interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
