Death Comes to Christena Mann
Was One of Lingenfelter Family and Prominent In Fulton County.
Mrs. Christena Mann died Thursday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock at her home, southeast of Canton, following a several years' illness. The cause of her demise was stomach trouble. She had been failing in health for a long time, but within the past few weeks the hot weather, coupled with a sinking spell, was too much for her weakened body.
Mrs. Mann was the wife of Isaac Mann and had been a resident of Fulton county nearly all her life. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lingenfelter and was born January 12, 1840, in Clay[s]burg, Pa. She came to Illinois in 1840 and had spent all her life (except eight years in Champaign county) in Fulton county.
June 23, 1864, Christena Lingenfelter was united in marriage to Isaac Mann and to this union there were born the following children: Mrs. Sarah Bell Black of Maple's Mill, James A., Oscar W., and Jacob W., who now live at home and M.S. Mann of Canton. Other relatives are five brothers. They are Mathias Lingenfelter, Jonah Lingenfelter, Aaron Lingenfelter, all of Banner township, Jacob Lingenfelter of Buckheart township, and Alexander Lingenfelter of Pollen, Oklahoma. There were no sisters.
The deceased had been a member of the Macedonia church since 1880 and was vitally interested in its welfare.
The funeral services will be held from the Bethel church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment will be in Bethel cemetery.
