Edith Louvine Isbell came to Texas from Missouri when she was just a small girl. Her father Moses Norman was already in Texas and securing them a place to live. A few weeks later Sarah Athlee Phillips Norman received a message from her husband Moses that he had everything in place and was ready for her and his children to join him in Texas. Arraingements were made for Sarah and the children to make the trip by train. At the train station in Texas Sarah was attacked while holding the smallest child in her arms. The man attempted to steal her purse and knocked her and the child to the ground. Some of the people that had got off the train the same time she did came to her rescue and the would be robber high tailed it empty handed.

Edith only had an eight grade education which was very common for those days. When children were old enough to do chores around the farm they worked instead of going to school.

Edith was married 3 times.
1. Samuel Robert Isbell- the father of her children. Who died in 1928 when Sylvia Isbell was 3 and Billy Wayne Isbell was 2.

2. Marvin Crabb, no children.

3. Samuel Trousdale, no children.
