From the Lockwood Luminary, August 28, 1925 -- Eli Coble died at the home of a daughter in Lamar, Thursday evening of last week at 9:30 o'clock. He had gone to Lamar for a visit, having been there two weeks. He was taken ill while there and passed away. Earl Caldwell, undertaker, was called from Lockwood, and Saturday brought the body to the home of a son, Oliver Coble, who resides of Endsley farm northeast of Lockwood.
Funeral services were held at Antioch Christian Church, near Pilgrim, Sunday, and the remains were laid to rest at the cemetery near the church. The funeral service was delivered by "Uncle" Billy Russell, a friend of the family of years standing. The deceased was approaching his 87th birthday.
