He was born on February 14, 1940 to Thomas and Josephine (Kabba) Westhusin.
He was a graduate of Plainville High School, and worked in the nearby oil fields as a sounding device operator. He joined the US Navy in 1958 and was a sonar man 2nd class on board the USS Floyd B Parks stationed in the gulf of Tonkin.
After leaving the Navy he was a self employed heavy equipment mechanic in California where he raised his family. He retired to beautiful Northwest Arkansas in 2005, where he was able to enjoy his passion for gardening, reading and cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley May Westhusin of Bella Vista; two daughters, Shaunna M. Arnold of Bella Vista, Renna K. Lange and husband Mark of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Gary Westhusin of Plainville, Kansas; one sister, Dorthy Harris of Minneapolis, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Joshua Taylor Lange of Las Vegas, Nevada and Haley Alyssa Lange of Las Vegas, Nevada.
His individuality and spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Inurnment will be at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
