He was employed for 43 years as a milwright at the F.M.C. Corp. in Carteret and was a member of International Chemical Workers Union Local 144.
He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and president of the Mt. Tobias Rod and Gun Club and past president of the Westfield Civic Club.
Surviving are his wife, Remigia Giuditta; two sons, William J. Jr. and Joseph M. both of Westfield; five brothers, Frank, George and Louis, all of Carteret, Alexander of Paradise Lake, Ill., and John of Woodbrige; two sisters, Emma Gusterson and Helen Bauer, both of Cateret; and four grandchildren.
