Mrs. Abshire, 91, of Rayne, passed away in Lafayette General Hospital Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Gertie was born August 17, 1919, in Crowley.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Dronet and his wife, Paula, of Lafayette, Charles Dronet of Lake Charles, ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Hanks; her first husband, Rene' Dronet; late husband, Arcade Abshire; 11 siblings; and her beloved daughter, Emma Jean Dronet Hayes.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Throughout the years, she read her Bible daily and had a deep faith in God.
