"Minnie Brotchi, Resident 44 Years, Taken By Death
Mrs. Minnie Brotchi, a resident of this district for the past 44 years, and wife of Edward L. Brotchi, who was killed in a train accident last February 4, died July 4 at her home, 112 North Railroad Avenue, after a short illness.
Minnie Brotchi, 71, was the mother of five sons, Arthur, Charlie, and George, all of Seattle, Fred of Spokane, and Earl, with the U. S. Army at Camp Roberts, California, and of two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Watkins of Kent, and Mrs. Kate Dickinson of Tacoma. She had 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Other survivors are a brother, Albert Cashman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Graham of Seattle.
Born in Indianola, Iowa on July 16, 1871 as Minnie Cashman, she became the wife of Edward Brotchi on February 28, 1889, at Indianola, from where they moved to Kent in 1899. Mrs. Brotchi was a member of Adina Rebekah Lodge No. 27 of Kent.
Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock on Thursday, July 8, at the Kent Funeral home, with Rev. J. Stanley Moore, pastor of the St. James' Episcopal Church of Kent, officiating, under the direction of Howard Edline. Burial was made at the Kent cemetery."
