Conferina Q. Chávez, age 91, a resident of Las Vegas, NM since 1959 and former resident of San Ramón, NM, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, NM.
Conferina was born in San Ramón, NM on December 10, 1917 to the late Petrolino Quintana and Francisquita Apodaca Quintana.
Conferina was united in marriage at Las Vegas, NM, on March 2, 1946 to the late Ramón E. Chávez.
Conferina enjoyed cooking, baking, praying and spending time with her family and she also loved spending time at the ranch.
Conferina was preceded in death by her parents, Petrolino and Francisquita Quintana, husband, Ramón E. Chávez, brothers, Luís Quintana, Pat Quintana, Eusebio Quintana, Transito Quintana and Vicente Quintana, sisters, Pola Martínez, Sofia Maldonado, Dorinda Riley, Frances Quintana and Mariquita Quintana.
Conferina is survived by her son, Raymond V. Chávez and his wife, Jenny of Las Vegas, NM, sister, Tomasita Vigil of Hereford, TX, sister-in-law, Mary Louise Quintana of Albuquerque, brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Teresita Chávez of Las Vegas, NM, Antonio Chávez and his wife, Mary Louise of Pacifica, CA, Reduicindo Chávez and his wife, Stella of Sublimity, Oregon, Pablita García of Tucumcari, NM and Guadalupe Chávez of Las Vegas, NM, special niece, Tere Keeling of Rising Star, Texas, special nephew and niece, Carlos and Alice Martínez of Sánchez, NM, special prima hermana, María Lucero of Albuquerque, special friends, Pat and Robert Amai and Alice and Juan Sandoval all of Las Vegas, NM and numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Also special thanks to all the staff and residents at the Vida Encantada Nursing & Rehab Center.
Rosary devotional will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father George Salazar as celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Ramón Cemetery in San Ramón, NM with the following serving as casket bearers, Carlos Martínez, Nick Ortiz, John Bustamante and Domingo Bustamante. Conferina will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. where family and friends may call.
