Eugene R. "Mac" McPhee "Together Again" Eugene R. "Mac" McPhee passed away peacefully at home with his family on December 10, 2003, after a long and sometimes difficult battle. Dad was born on January 26, 1918, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Benjamin and Agnes Jenny Anderson McPhee. He grew up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Logan, Utah and Salt Lake City, and graduated from South High School where he was an outstanding athlete in track and football, receiving a scholarship to Westminster College. Dad served his country proudly in World War II with the "Fighting Seabees" in the South Pacific. He married Della M. Snow on December 21, 1940, and they spent 61 loving years together until her death in July of 2002. Dad enjoyed many interests in life such as family parties and barbecues, the Jazz, playing cards and games, Utah and yes, even BYU football and basketball, bowling, the Denver Broncos, his homegrown tomatoes, a good meal and a good drink, in addition to many other things, but just being around his family is what he truly enjoyed. Dad was always a hard worker and continued to work until his poor health made it impossible. He truly missed his coworkers and customers. Mac was a very devoted son, parent and grandparent with a great, but "corny" sense of humor who would and did, assist his family whenever needed, throughout his life. Dad, we all will never forget the unselfish things you did and the good times we had. We will miss you greatly but know that you are now in a much better place; with mom and that all is well. Dad was the last surviving sibling in his family and was preceded by two sisters and two brothers. Survived by two sons and a daughter, Gene (Dalene) and Scott (Connie) of Salt Lake and Joan (Dan) Tate of Roosevelt, Utah; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to express thanks to dad's nurses Pam, Becky and Natalie for their friendship, care and concern for dad. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Friends may visit from 12-1 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, prior to the service.
