Burial Date: June 4, 2001A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Seattle for Joseph Edward Lair, who died May 16 at age 77.

Mr. Lair was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Portland. He graduated from Columbia Prep and the University of Portland. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He moved to Seattle in 1957. In 1961, he co-founded Lair-Swanson Inc., a building products company, where he worked until retiring in 1985. In 1946, he married Betty Andresen.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Molly McCullough and Sally Hooker; son, Jeffrey; sisters, Bernice Seidl and Tessie Pliska; and six grandchildren.
