Graveside services for Elmer M. Salmonsen, 88, of Dillon, were Friday, May 10, at the Dillon Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Salmonsen died at Parkview Acres Convalescent Center in Dillon on Tuesday, May 7. He was born Feb. 11, 1903, the son of Nels and Mary Salmonsen of Dillon. He attended local schools and on January 5, 1934, married Mary Molly Kenison. She preceded him in death. Mr. Salmonsen was a member of Local 400 of Operating Engineers for 45 years. He worked as a master mechanic and was an avid gardener. He is survived by his son Melvin of Dillon; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Lou of Dillon, Larry and Diane of Hardin; six grandchildren; brothers, Nels of Virginia City and Carl of Deer Lodge; sisters Martha Magnus; Bertha Larson of Sheridan and Anna Hunter of Idaho. He was preceded in death by a brother Art and sisters Alice and Mable. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. -Dillon Tribune, May 15, 1991
