Donald L. Metzner, Sr., 74, 118 West 14th Street, Coal Valley, died Thursday, August 25, 1994, in the Hospice Unit at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline.
Services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial was in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline, where military honors were conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.
Mr. Metzner was born May 3, 1920, in Alexis, the son of Fred J. and Myrtle Murphy Metzner. He married Hazel Mae Dismuke on September 30, 1942, in Hankins, South Carolina; she died May 28, 1994. He was employed in the maintenance department of Eagle Signal Co., Davenport, for 27 years, retiring in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
