Benjamin W. Bohnenkamp of Sullivan, passed away Monday, December 23, 1996 at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Bohnenkamp was a life-long resident of the Bourbon and Sullivan areas and was well known as a dairy and cattle farmer until his retirement in 1977. Ben was a son of the late William and Minnie (Sites) Bohnenkamp and was the last surviving member of his family of two brothers and two sisters. On June 15, 1946 he was married to Edith Lawrence at Mt. Auburn Methodist Church in St. Louis. To this marriage three daughters were born of which one daughter, Mary Lynn preceded Ben in death in early childhood. Ben was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan and was a member of the Administrative Council. He was also a member and Past Noble Grand and pianist of Sullivan Oddfellows Lodge #156. Mr. Bohnenkamp was also a volunteer of the hospital auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife Edith; two daughters, Virginia Harris and husband Danny of St. Peters, Missouri, and Ruth Starling and husband Joe of Newport Richley, Florida; one grandson, Benjamin Harris; other relatives and friends. Mr. Bohnenkamp was also preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Harris; his brothers, Wilbur and Donald Bohnenkamp and sisters, Vera Troutt and Bonnie Reiner.

Funeral Services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 1996 from Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan with Rev. Vicki Taggart officiating. Interment was in Bourbon Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan. The family suggests memorials to Grace United Methodist Church, Sullivan Home Health Services or Missouri Baptist Hospice.
