Census of 1850 listed Sam as 10 yrs old.
Census of 1880 listed Sam as 34 yrs old.
Census of 1910 listed Sam as 60 yrs old.
Samuel Allen was the third child of Hezekiah and Jane (Glover) Allen. On November 25, 1866 Samuel married Mary Ann (Polly) Amblin. Born of this union was Wm C. (Columbus), Alexander, Jane, John, Mary A. and Julie Viona. Mary Ann died in January 1879. Samuel then married Emma Conner Knobb on March 6, 1890. Born of this union was: Hezekiah, George Washington, Nora, Isaac, Becky, Rosie May and Clint Allen. Sam was blind for many years before he died. A story heard many times tells of how one cold morning Samuel got up to build a fire in the fireplace. Of course, he was blind at this time and he had mistaken the corner of the room for the fireplace. Samuel proceeded to build his fire and burned the house to the ground. They lost everything they had.
