Obituary:
William E. Slezek was born on a farm northwest of Milligan on Dec. 31, 1908 to Frank and Barbara (Jansky) Slezak. In spite of his powerful determination to live, he lost a final battle to cancer, and passed away in the fillmore Co. Hospital in Geneva on June 22, 1990 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 22 days. He was one of two sons in the family.
William was known to all as bill, and attended District #33 in Fillmore county. After graduation, he remained on the family farm to help his parents. His love to work on the farm remained in his heart until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Anne T. Babolk in Pine City, Minnesota on June 3, 1931. The made their home on the orginal Slezak homestead northwest of Milligan. To this union were born one son, William F. (Bill)and one daughter Elizabeth. Bill and Anne continued to reside on the homestead until 1948 when, due to the retirement of Frank and Barbara, who moved to town, they moved to a farm one mile north of the homestead. In conjunction with his farming, Bill worked as a salesman for the Archer Oil Company.
In 1969 Bill, Anne, and their granddaughter Sheri, who had been living with them moved to Milligan. Bill's move to town did not mean retirement from farming as his greatest satisfaction was to continue helping on the farm. His favorite hobbies included working with his son Bill and grandson billy, in which he continually helped to haul grain and prepare the soil for the crops. He spent endless happy days with his wife Anne, and Daughter clearing the timber and making firewood.
Bill maintained his very busy life with never a moment spent in idleness until his illness in February. His hours of happiness included the time he was able to spend with his wife, children, grnadchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the many who caime to visit him. His door was always open to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his father Frank Sr., brother Frank Jr., Mother Barbara, and an infant brother and sister.
He leaves to mour his wife Anne, son Bill and wife Darlene, daughter Eleizbeth, 2 granddaughters, one grandson, five great grandchildren and extended family and many friends.
