She had been employed as a clerk at Kmart. A member of the Siebenbuerger Society Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed traveling, gardening and homemaking.
She was preceded in death by a half brother, Michael Gregory, and an infant brother, Eddie Stefnoski.
Survivors include her husband, Walter P. Akus, whom she married in 1940; two sons, Walter J. Akus and his wife, Marilyn, of Erie and Robert M. Akus of North East; two daughters, Joanne Baron and her husband, Raymond, of Sun City West, Ariz., and Janice P. Gardner and her husband, Robert, of Edinboro; a sister, Anna Hawryliw and her husband, Michael, of Erie; a brother, Walter Stefnoski and his wife, Mary Ann, of Erie; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Entombment will be at Mary, Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
