Malum [sic], Jas. C., age, 1 month, 21 days; date of death, November 10, 1895; died Brainerd

Losey & Dean Mortuary Record:
James C. Mahlum, died Novemeber 10, 1895; age 1 month, 21 days, spinal meningitis; certifying physician, Hemstead                           

                            DIED.

      James C., son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Mahlum, aged seven weeks, died on Sunday of spinal troubles. The funeral was held on Tuesday from the house, Rev. D. D. McKay officiating. (Brainerd Dispatch, 15 November 1895, p. 4, c. 6)

      To friends who so kindly tendered their sympathy and services during the sickness, decease and burial of our infant son James Chirstian, we hereby return our most heartfelt thanks.
