William Christopher was the oldest child of Frederick and Margaretha (Glaser) Popp. He was a well know carpenter and contractor in St Louis. Wm Chr was a Mason, initiated into the Ancient Free & Accepted Masonsm Meridian Lodge #2 on the 16 of February 1887, passing on April 20th and raised on May 30th of 1894. He was also a member of the Liederkrantz Club and the St. Louis Union Club. He was an avid supporter of the movement to bring Cremation services to Missouri. Since he enjoyed great wealth at the time he invested heavily in the Missouri Crematory and lost money when it merged with Valhalla. Following his wife's sudden death in 1902, his father's death in Oct 1903 and his daughter's demise from consumption the following month, he suffered an enormous financial loss. On the morning of May 31st, Wm Chr shot himself with a rifle in the business office attached to his home.
