Funeral for Doris Davis, 87, of Chico was Friday, Nov. 18, at the First Baptist Church in Chico. The Rev. Adam Hughes officiated. Burial followed at Chico Cemetery.

Davis died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in Decatur.

Born Sept. 20, 1918, in Chico, she was a retired custodian for Chico ISD. She married Jess B. Davis on June 9, 1936. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Chico where she served as a 4- and 5-year-old Sunday school teacher for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.

She is survived by a nephew, Tommy Lee Ward and wife, Deborah of Arlington; four nieces, Teri Ward of Fort Worth, Jonna Strickland of Trophy Club, Glenda VanHoose and husband, Raymond of Bridgeport and Nelda Vincent and husband, Willy of Chico and a sister-in-law, Pauline Ward.

Pallbearers were Joe Sieger, James Sieger, Bobby VanHoose, Ralph Evans, David Evans and Willy Jack Vincent.
