Lucy Taylor was the daughter of William Taylor and Hannah Dudley Taylor. Both of prominent and prosperous families of North Carolina. It is believed that this Lucy Taylor was a second cousin to President Zachary Taylor. In 1847 Alpheus Billings and Lucy Benefield Taylor Wright migrated to Harrison County, Texas
traveling in covered wagons drawn by oxen. They purchased land from Lucy's cousins Benjamin Franklin and Redding Scott Pridgen (a gift from their parents Wiley W. Pridgen, Sr. and Mary Baker Pridgen) to establish what became their plantation home. The home still stands and is owned by Wright Descendants. It was known as "Locust Grove"

As of June 9, 2012, I was notified that the house is indeed standing and is near what is now Jonesville, Texas.
Still owned by Wright descendants. Built in 1847 to 1849.
Information came from Lora Taylor Hornberger descendant of Alpheus Wright and Lucy Taylor Wright. She was so gracious to send a picture taken in 1991-1992. In fact she was at the home 2 weeks ago.

William Taylor was born in 1771 Nash Co, North Carolina.
He died 28 March 1842 Todd Co, Kentucky.
Hannah Dudley Taylor was born 27 May 1777 in North Caroline.
She must have came to Texas with her daughter Lucy because she went to Houston County, Texas with her granddaughters and died there 13 April 1861, and is buried in the Taylor Cemetery there.
