Jonas E. Donson, 85, retired Penn Central Railroad engineer, died Friday night at Reid Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Jenkins Hall and formerly resided at 29 North Fifteenth St.

He was born near Staunton, Va., and lived in Richmond 63 years. He had been retired 15 years, retiring from the railroad after 47 years of service.

He was a member of Webb Lodge of Masons and received his 50-year membership pin Oct. 26. He also was a member of the Brotherhood of Firemen and Enginemen.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Leona .Carman, New Paris, Ohio, rural route, and Mrs. Irene Stanley, Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Mollie Woodring, Columbus, Ohio; one brother, John Donson, New Lebanon, Ohio.

Services will be held at the Jones & Placke Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. George Goris in charge. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Masonic memorial services will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Sunday. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
