Alvie Hake was the son of David Miller Hake and Elizabeth Bond. His paternal grandparents were John George Hake and Susanna Miller.

On 6 March 1915, Alvie enlisted in the Army. He served during World War I.

In 1920 Alvie resided at the Vancouver Barracks, in Vancouver, Washington. In 1921 Alvie enlisted in the Marines. He was employed by the fire department.

In 1930 he lived in San Francisco and was a barber.
