Dorothy M. Austin, 70,of Cle Elum died November 23, 2003, at Kittitas Valley community Hospital, in Ellensburg, following an extended illness.
She was born, May 7, 1933, in Bamfork, Oklahoma, the daughter of Percy, and Vena (Barcus)Sutherland.
Dorothy later moved with her family to Selah, Washington, where she graduated from high school.
On August 27, 1949, she married David Austin. A homemaker all of her life, Dorothy's hobbies, included, crocheting, and landscape oil painting. she also learned the art of pine needle basketry, and sold many of her completed baskets, at local outlets, including the former, Mini Visions Gallery, in Cle Elum, and Rodeo City Barb-b-Que in Ellensburg.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 siblings.
Survivors include her husband, David Austin of Cle Elum, of Cle Elum, her daughter, Marlene (Don)Reisenauer, of Puyallup, Washington, 2 sons, Ron (Brenda) Austin, of Brookings, Oregon, and Bob (Danielle) Austin of South Prairie. Her sister, Wilma Peterson of Kent, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 10:30 AM at the family home, 3001 Red Bridge Road in Cle Elum.
