Born in Alabama, to Abner Absolem Abbitt & Margaret E Atkerson September 09, 1877. Abbitt came to Oklahoma in the early days and had been a city resident 47 years. He was a member of the Babtist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Katherine of the home; four daughters, Elsie Byus, Myrtle Jolly, both of Oklahoma City area; Myrtle Ritchey of Pitcher, Oklahoma; and May Gable of Colton, California; and four sons, Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James of Everett, Washington; Velmer of Glendale, Arizona; and Carl of Trenton, South Carolina.
There are also two sisters, Barbara Rushey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Susie Smith of Enid, Oklahoma; two brothers, John and James both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
