Mary Kratina Rischling passed away Saturday, January 2, 1988, at the Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 24 days. Mary was born January 9, 1903, on a farm east of Tobias to Frank J. and Bessie Dloughy Kratina.

Mary attended Tobias School, and graduated from the eight grade.

On February 26, 1924, she was united in marriage to Adolph Rischling of Tobias.

Adolph and Mary resided on the same farm south of Milligan for 55 years, and had the privilege of being married for over 63 years.

Five children were born to this union, Robert, Arlene, Richard, Irma and Alma.

Mary was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest pleasure was her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Her love of flowers was annually displayed in her beautiful flower garden.

Her family and friends will always remember the aroma of fresh baking from her kitchen. She crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren which are truly treasured keepsakes.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Bessie Kratina; a brother, Frankie; two sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. James Rischling Sr.) and Olga (Mrs. Robert Pesek); and two grandchildren, Kim Luzum and Paul Placek.

She is survived by her husband, Adolph; son Robert and wife Carolyn; daughter, Arlene and husband, James Luzum; son, Richard and wife, Kathy; and twin daughters Irma and husband, Albin Kudlacek and Alma and husband, Dean Placek; eight grandchildren, Julie and husband, Dale Erdkamp; Jan Rischling and wife, Tammy; and Jay Luzum; Becky and husband Joe Zwickl, Kristine Rischling, Paige Placek, Ryan Rischling and Marci Rischling; one great-grandson, Mitchell; two step-grandsons, Gary and wife, Marilyn Kudlacek and Rod and wife, Lea Kudlacek; two brothers John and Ad Kratina; five sisters, Anne K. Thompson, Mrs. Arnold (Mildred) Fritz, Mrs. Harold (Alyce) Fritz, Mrs. Walter (Emilye) Schwan, and Mrs. John (Vera) Rezek; also by nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services were held Tuesday January 5, at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home-Kotas Chapel, with the Rev. David Holland officiating.

Mrs. Robert Zeleny accompanied Robert Kassik, who sang "Softly and Tenderly" in Czech and "The Evening Prayer."

Pallbearers were Jan Rischling, Jay Luzum, Ryan Rischling, Dale Erdkamp, Joe Zwickl, and James Rischling Jr.

Burial was in the Bohemian National Cemetery.
