Ray L. Ambrose, 86, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born August 24, 1918, in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Jerry S. and Flossie Walter Ambrose.
He was a 1936 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. He retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 23 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Newton D. Baker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 896.
He is survived by his wife,Norma Kerns Ambrose; two daughters,Jody Chase and Janice Pinyan, both of Martinsburg; one son, David R. Ambrose of Myersville, Md.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters,Larue Richardson and Virginia Davidson.
Private burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Morgan County.
Arrangements were by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
