PAWNEE REPUBLICAN (Pawnee City, Nebraska)- Thursday, September 9, 1909- Page 5.

DEATH OF C. B. HAAS.
Christian B. Haas was born June 16, 1851, in Mahoning county, Ohio, and lived with his parents on the farm until he marriage.

He was only sixteen years of age when his father died, but his mother lived longer.

He was married on May 11, 1872, to Savilla Lipp, and eight children have blessed their union- six boys and two girls- three being born in Ohio and five in Pawnee City, Nebraska.

Mr. Haas lived in his old home in Lima, Ohio, until April 1879, when he moved with his family to Pawnee City and has resided here ever since, making his home in Pawnee over 30 years. He was on the farm until he moved to Pawnee City, and for a while engaged in the bakery and restaurant business, and of late years had been traveling in the interest of Dr. Coe's Sanitarium of Kansas City, Mo.

His highest ambition was for the good of his home and the welfare of his wife and children. All of the children born into the home are living, and with the wife and mother fell deeply their loss of a kind, devoted husband and father.

He joined the Dunkard church when a young man in Ohio, and later joined the Methodist Episcopal church in this place when Rev. Preston was pastor.

He was afflicted about a year ago but secured temporary relief. His last sickness began about July 1st, 1909, and he suffered much pain until he passed away at 4:05 p.m., September 2, 1909. He said shortly before passing away, "I am going to be with Jesus," and during his sickness expressed at different times his faith in God and Jesus Christ as his Savior. There is no doubt in our minds that he is safe in the arms of Jesus, for he asked us all to meet him in heaven. All the family were present at the funeral except Norman and Gertrude who were unable to attend.
