Opal Adams Tolman died July 21, 2011, in her home in Bountiful, Utah, one month prior to her 97th birthday.
She was born in Oakley, Idaho, August 21, 1914, to John Adams and Mary Jane Phippen Harper Adams. She married William Odell Tolman April 27, 1934, in Pocatello, Idaho. They were sealed in the Logan Utah Temple June 12, 1934. William died September 25, 1980.
She treasured her family gatherings and church service. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she worked as a teacher and leader. She was a quintessential nursery leader. Her neighbors, friends, and ward family were dear to her.
She loved her flower garden, embroidering, crocheting, needlepoint, and decorating her home for the holidays, especially her seasonal trees.
Opal is survived by her sons: John O. Tolman (Joan), Salt Lake City; Darrel W. Tolman (Barbara), North Salt Lake; Michael W. Tolman, Bountiful; her daughters: Shirlene Tolman, Bountiful; Loraine T. Pace (Alfred), Logan; and Loretta T. Thueson (DeLoy) of Jerome, Idaho. She has 26 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Janice Jane T. Taylor; granddaughters, Kari Thueson and Brianne Pace; and grandson, Preston Youngman, preceded her in death.
