Charles Herbert Coonrod, former secretary-treasurer of the Cohoes Savings Bank and active participant in church and civic affairs of Cohoes, died at his home, 16 Imperial Avenue, yesterday after a long illness.

Mr. Coonrod was a life-long resident of Cohoes and retired from the banking business five years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was a former treasurer of the Hudson River Baptist Association, North, former director of the Cohoes Hospital and treasurer of the Waterford Rural Cemetery Association. He was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 48, of Cohoes; a past master of Cohoes Lodge,F. & A.. M.; a member of the New York Athletic Club and former director of the Troy Auto Club, AAA.

During the recent war Mr. Coonrod was chairman of the first war savings drive tn this area and also served on the O.P.A. board.

Survivors include his wife, the former Florence O. Mather; a daughter, Florence E. Coonrod; a son, George M. Coonrod, and a brother, Alexander G. Coonrod.

Funeral services will be held privately from the residence tomorrow at the convenience of the family with Rev. Ernest G. McGuire, rector of St Anne's Episcopal Church of Lowell, Mass., officiating.
