Waynesville, Lloyd Gerald Howell, known as "Uncle Gerald", age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Med-West Haywood.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Mark and Reta Stamey Howell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Holcombe; three brothers, Gene, Jack and Don Howell; a niece, Debbie and a nephew, Brett. He was a United States Army veteran. Uncle Gerald enjoyed installing carpet, farming, auctions and tinkering with things.
He is survived by his wife and companion for 26 years, Vicki Moody Howell; a daughter, Lori Marie Moody of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; nieces; Jeannie, Vickie, Linda, Little Gay, Gail and Cheryl; nephews; Stacey, Floyd, and Ronnie; sister in-laws; Sandra and Charlene Howell and his little dog, "Foxy".
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Kris Estep will officiate. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Howell, Floyd Holcombe, Stacey Howell, Mark Howell, Mark Phillips and Michael Fie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
