Barta's husband worked as a conductor on a train and was gone a lot, so Barta was a stay-at-home mother to her five children.
Her first child Lois Marie was born Sept. 8, 1934 in Paris. Barbara was born Sept. 17, 1939 in Paris. Her only son Carl Geddes was born Jan 11, 1944 in Montpelier. Another daughter Joann was born Jan. 26, 1945 in Montpelier, and finally Margie was born Apr. 9, 1953 in Logan, Utah.
Barta was a stay-at-home mom and cared for her children, also helping care for her father-in-law, Arthur Taylor. She was a good mother and was talented at telling stories, which she always did at Family Reunions.
She died Aug. 10, 1975 in Montpelier, Idaho and was buried in the Paris Cemetery in Paris, Idaho.
