Opal Fern McCoy, 80, of Centralia, died at 4:03 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Irvin Funeral Home in Centrala, with Rev. Harold Downing officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to 15th Street Church of God.

McCoy was born Jan. 15, 1917, the daughter of John and Clara (Beck) Craig. She married Robert L. Mccoy, Sr. in July 1936. He preceded her in death February 1969.

She lived in Centralia since 1962, and prior to that, she lived in Olney and Mascoutah. She was a homemaker and was a charter member of 15th Street Church of God in Centralia. She served many years as secretary/treasurer and pianist.

She is survived by three sons, Robert L. McCoy, Jr., of Alpena, Ark., James W. McCoy, of Highland, and John D. McCoy, of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Mack, of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mildred McVeigh, of Mechanicsburg; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two daughters, Rita McCoy Thomas in 1986 and Karen McCoy Waggoner in 1995.
