Wilbur Simeon Sellers, 91, longtime resident of the Middletown area, died February 23, 2004 at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson.

He was born February 26, 1912 in Mooreland, Indiana, the son of Lewis Clark and Mary Elizabeth Adams Sellers.

He was a 1930 graduate of Middletown High School and a US Army Veteran of WW 2, serving as an airplane mechanic in England.

He retired from Warner Gear in Muncie as well as Valley Golf Course in Middletown.

He lived in Middletown most of his life and was instrumental in developing the Maple Heights Subdivision of Valley View Court in 1961.

He was a member of the Middletown Lions Club serving as past president and was on their bowling team, Middletown Order of the Eastern Star #110 (Fifty year member), Middletown Masonic Lodge, and was instrumental in organizing the first Babe Ruth Baseball League in Middletown in the early 1960's becoming it's first president. He was also former president of the Middletown Little League.

He was baptized in 1927 by Rev. R. B. Givens at the Sixth Street Christian church in Middletown and became an elder in 1955 as well as a church trustee.

He was preceded in death by his parents,his first wife Vesta Loundeback Sellers, whom he had been married for fifty years, sisters: Lottie Sellers, Mary Effie Sellers, Jester, and Dora Mae Sellers Goff, brothers: John Wesley Sellers, Alfred Clair Sellers, Milton Clark Sellers, and Charles Heman Sellers.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years: Anna Marie Tappen of Middletown, Children: Jane (Mark) Young of Middletown and Bruce Sellers of Anderson, grandchildren: Stephanie Rene' Young Benson (Jason) of Greenfield, IN and Shaunda Gayle Young of Denver, Co, and a very special nieces: Della Sheets of Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Sixth Street Christian Church with Rev. Maynard Powell officiating.

Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.
