Marriage license of Paul Gaul and Luzia Mayer

On May 19, 1885 at 7 p.m. the following persons appeared before the mayor of the community Grosbuns, canton Redingen,(Adingen, Bedingen), Luxemburg:

Paul Gaul, blacksmith, age 37, born July 4, 1847 in Pratz/Bettborn, residing in Dellen; son of Wilhelm Gaul, farmer, who died March 26, 1883 in Pratz and of Albertine Thienes who emigarted to America; previously married to Anne Catherine Wiltgen, who died Dec. 14, 1882 in Dellen. The residence of the groom's mother was established by means of notorized documentation (May 18, 1885)
and
Luzia Mayer, no profession, aged 26, born May 29, 1859 in Biesdorf, county of Bitburg in Preussia, residing in Riegel, community of Heiderschied. the daughter of Paul Mayer and Anne Catherine Bauler, married couple, farmers residing in Riegel.

The above mentioned people requested to be married and agreed to have their wedding plans announced on the third and tenth of this month.

Since no objections against this union were raised we declare Paul Gaul and Luzia Mayer man and wife.

Obituary
Paul Gaul, 81 years old, who was a resident of Wadena for more than 16 years, died Friday at his home on Franklin Ave. S.W. Mr. Gaul was born in Pratz, Luxemburg, July 4, 1847 and came to this country 30 years ago settling in Earling, Iowa. He later resided at Iona Lake, Minnesota.
Forty-three years ago he was married to Lucy Meyer who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother Nick of Earling, Iowa; four sons, Nick of Iona Lake, William of Wilmont, MN; John of St. Paul and Peter of Wadena; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Probst of Wilmont, and Mrs. Peter Lingen of Mantador, N.D.

Funeral services were held Monday at 9:00 a.m from St. Ann's Catholic church with interment at the Wadena cemetery, Rev. F. Langer officiated at the last rites. All of the surviving relatives were here except William and the grandchildren.

Mr. Gaul was one of that sturdy stock of citizens who contributed so much to the welfare of the country. His passing marks a full life, well spent in honest labor, faithfully done.
