BISHOP, Lucille A. (Maj. U.S. Army, retired). born Aug. 15, 1910, passed away on May 22, 2010 in Prattville, AL. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Dr. Leroy Stringfield officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memory Gardens with full Military Honors.

Major Bishop born 3rd in a family of 8 children, graduated from Autaugaville High School in 1930 and received her RN Degree from Hillman College in Birmingham. She served in the U.S. Army from 1933 to 1963 with deployments to Germany, Japan and Korea. Her service included surgical nursing in Mash units. She retired having achieved the rank of Major with an Operating Room Nurse Specialty. She retired in 1963 returning to Prattville to care for her parents. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years.

Lucille is survived by 2 brothers, Rube Bishop and wife, Evelyn of Karnac, TX and Oscar Bishop and wife, Barbara of Bellview, Washington. Other siurvivors are Sylvia Bishop, sister-in-law, of Karnac, TX, Martha Bishop, sister-in-law, of Billingsley, AL and many loving nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Charter Bishop, Verga Lee Oddy, Mary Frances Jackson, George Edward Bishop and Calvin Joshua Bishop.
