US Congressman. He was born in Killingly, Connecticut, and attended the prestigious Yale College in New Haven, Connecticut, where he graduated from 1806. After graduating from college, he studied law, and was admitted to the bar and commenced to practicing in Westfield (later Danielson), Connecticut. For a time he was also a successful businessman in the manufacture of cloth in East Killingly, Connecticut. He also took an interest in politics and was elected as a Federalist and he went on to serve as a Member of the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1810, 1811, 1816, and again in 1817. He also served as a Member of the Connecticut State Senate as At-Large from 1823 to 1825, Member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives from Killingly from 1826 to 1828, and as the Speaker of the Connecticut State House of Representatives from 1827 to 1828. A Federalist, he then served Connecticut as At-Large in the United States House of Representatives from 1829 to 1835. While in Congress, he was Chairman of the Committee on Expenditures on Public Buildings. He retired from politics shortly thereafter. He passed away in his birthplace of Killingly, Connecticut, at the age of 67.
