Anna is the daughter of John Cammack, Jr., who fought in the Revolutionary War, and Mary "Polly" Parker. The Cammacks owned a lot of land in Bibb County, Alabama. The story of Anna's and Lewis Yeager's elopement, as told by their daughter Casseline Yeager Frazier, is that they spent their wedding night in a ditch, using Anna's petticoat filled with dried leaves as a mattress. They settled on the west side of the Cahaba River in Bibb County, and their sons Israel Miles and Newton Jasper built homes on the property. Lewis and Anna are buried beside their infant daughter in the side yard of Newton Jasper's house. As the years went by, 8 other family members were interred there.

The 12 children of Lewis and Anna Cammack Yeager are: Constantine, Israel Miles, Martha Ann, Araminta, Virgil Peck, Newton Jasper, Daniel Wayne, Narcissa, Chapley Harvey, Casseline, Dixon Harry Lewis, and Mary.

At least 5 of the 7 boys fought for the Confederate States of America in the Civil War and 3 of them (Peck, Harvey, and Harry-Lewis) gave their lives.
