Linnie Cowan Harter, 96, a former Canyon resident, died Thursday, June 8, 1995, in Fort Worth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Strauss Atkinson, pastor emeritus, and the Rev. Gayle Bowen, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Harter was born in Colorado City and was a lifetime resident of the Canyon and Happy areas. She married Charles Harter in 1915 at Tahoka. He died in 1976.

She had been a librarian at West Texas State University and in the Canyon public schools. She held memberships in the American Association of University Women, PEO, Delta Kappa Gamma, Chi Omega sorority, Friends of the Library and First Baptist Church of Canyon.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothea Prichard of Fort Worth; two sons, Charles Cowan Harter of Bryan and William Cass Harter of Lake Tanglewood; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.
