Mrs. Anna Garvin, 66, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Howrey, early-day Black Hawk county residents, died Wednesday in a hospital at Battle Creek, Mich., it was learned here Friday. She had been ill for the last three months and entered the hospital May 11.

She was a former resident of Waterloo, and had lived at Coldwater, Mich. for a number of years.

She was married Aug. 17, 1888, to George F. Garvin, at Waterloo.

Surviving are six sons, W.L. Garvin, 1310 Baltimore st.; W.G. Garvin, Union City, Mich.; M.Y. Garvin, Springfield, MO.; G.G, Stanley and Paul Garvin, Coldwater, Mich.; one brother, B.J. Howrey, San Diego, Cal.; and 12 grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death Feb. 3, 1932, at Coldwater, and a daughter, Mrs. Alice Ruple, died in July, 1930.

Judge Ben G. Howrey, 118 Kingbard avenue, and Corliss Shirley, 304 Hammond avenue, are nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kistner chapel, Rev. Hilmore Cedarholm, associate pastor of Burton Avenue Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
