He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Loyce Marlar Smith; two sisters, Mozelle Smith Nash and Shirley Counce Barnes.
He is survived by his children: Doug Smith and wife Rosalie of Kingsport, TN; two daughters, Kay Smith Earhart and husband John of Orange Park, Fl and Martha Smith Johnson and husband Bill of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Elmer Counce of Burnsville, MS; four grandsons Ryan Grissom of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. John Alan Smith and wife Wendy of Kingsport TN, Nathan Johnson of Orlando, FL, Neal Johnson and wife Stephanie of Murfreesboro, TN; three granddaughters, Rachel Grissom of Los Angeles, CA, Whitney Earhart of Nashville, TN, Amelia Earhart Daniel and husband Michael of British Virgin Islands,two great granddaughters, Emily Bethay Smith and Rachel Rea Smith of Kingsport, TN, and one Great Grandson Zachary Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN.
Floyd served in the U S Army during WWII. He later worked in a supervisory position at Kellogg Company in Memphis until retirement. He was a member of the Memphis Lions Club.
