Betty Kathryn was the only child born to Ralph & Bessie (Hurley) Russell on Mar. 28 1926. She learned to play the Violin in her younger years. She graduated from Benedict High School at Benedict,Ks. She was an executive secretary for Lafarge Corp., for many Yrs. having worked in the Dallas, Tx. & Fredonia offices. & retired from Lafarge Corp at Dallas, Tx. She was a member of the Eastern Star, First United Methodist Church in Fredonia as well as various Clubs and organizations in the area.

Betty Kathryn died at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita on May 16, 1999.

Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia with the Rev. W. Lawrence Grove officiating. Burial will be in High Prairie Cemetery North of Altoona Just 1/4 Mi North of where she was born & spent her youth.

Memorials have been established in her name with the First United Methodist Church and the Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research.

On July 11, 1981 she married Howard Sell, He survives.
Other survivors include a stepson Philip Sell, Topeka, a stepdaughter Nancy Johnson, Winfield, four step-grandchildren; and one step great grandchild.
