Since graduation [from Amherst College, in 1869] he has been engaged as an accountant, for the first year with the Messrs. Slater, woolen, cotton and linen manufacturers at Webster, Mass. The next three years were spent in the employ of N. A. Lombard & Co., manufacturers of machinery, at Worcester, Mass.; and since that time he has been with the Sargent Card Clothing Co., in the same city. His position has grown to be one of great responsibility, involving no little supervision of the entire business in the absence of the members of the firm, who have given him substantial evidence of their appreciation of his valuable services.
He was married July 20th, 1872, to Miss Hattie N. Boltwood, of Amherst. His wife died May 27th, 1873. He was again married, to Miss Susie Maria Everett, of Worcester, January 5th, 1876.
