Jesse Gilbert

Jesse B. Gilbert, 45 year-old Howard county farmer, succumbed after a short illness at his home 13 miles northwest of here Saturday afternoon. He had been ill only since Thursday.
Gilbert, a resident of Howard county for the past 10 years, was 45 years on his birthday Oct. 1. He was the father of 12 children, eight of whom survive him.
He leaves his widow, four sons, J. C. Gilbert, Odis Gilbert, Louis Gilbert and Ralph Gilbert of near Big Spring; four daughters, Louise and Juanita Gilbert, who reside at home, Mrs. N. D. Cox, Alred, Tex., and Mrs. O. C. Cook, Big Spring; and two grand children.
Also surviving are three brothers, Joe Gilbert, Childress, and Dave and George Gilbert, Big Spring; and two sisters, Mrs. Lora McKinney, Ballinger, and Mrs. Fannie Vest, Abilene.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Eberley chapel with Rev. Retchford, a Church of God minister, in charge. Burial will be in the city cemetery with W. W. Long, J. E. Brown, Alvin Chapman, Ed Bailey, Rufus Davidson and Robert Currie as pallbearers.
