C. Michaelson Is Summoned
Charles Henry Michaelson, 79, prominently known and honored resident and businessman of this community for some 50 years, died suddenly at 3:20 p.m. Sunday in the local hospital, where he entered around noon that day, following an acute illness with which he was stricken at his home. He had been in failing health since July.
Coming to Sycamore in 1904, Mr. Michaelson was successfully engaged in meat and grocery business, both retail and wholesale, in this city until selling his business in 1947 to Gene Ryan, and since then had been in semi-retirement until last July, when he became ill. Mr. Michaelson was first employed by the late Harry Hammond in the meat business here, then going into partnership with the late Uno Anderson, operating a meat market, which he later purchased.
He was born August 31, 1879, in Blanchardville, Wis., the son of Henry Michaelson and Anna Farmer Michaelson. On October 14, 1907, he was married to Josephine Bosch, the wedding taking place at St. Mary's Church in Sycamore, in which city they have lived all their married years.
Mr. Michaelson possessed sterling qualities of character and was respected by all who knew him. His main interests radiated in his home and family, also in his church, being a devout member of the local St. Mary's Church for 51 years, and an active member of the Holy Name Society and a church trustee.
Left to mourn his passing are his widow; two sons, Charles Donald Michaelson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Francis William Michaelson of DeKalb; a daughter, Mrs. Earl W. (Barbara) Hagen of Waukeegan; three grandchildren, Barbara Jean Michaelson, Julie Ann Michaelson and Mary Elizabeth Hagen. A daughter, Mary Rita Michaelson, died in 1924.
Final services are to be accorded at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Coultrip Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church with Father C. W. Caine officiating. Burial will take place in the Mt. Carmel cemetery, Sycamore. Rosary is to be recited this Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the local funeral home, where friends may call until time of services.
