STACYVILLE – Ida Palmer McNally, 90, went home to be with her Lord July 18, 2011, in Bangor, with many family members by her side. Mama was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Sherman, the youngest daughter of John and Lillian (Giles) Horsman, and lived most of her life in Stacyville.

Mama had many jobs in her life, but the most important one was bringing up her five children, being both a mother and father to them. Never wanting anything for herself, Mom lived very simply. She loved cooking for her large family, fishing, picking berries and in her later years, going out to eat almost daily.

She is survived by her two sons, Rod and Gail of Fayetteville, Ga., and Greg and Cheyanne of Houlton; her three daughters, Sheila and Gary Long of Sherman, Loretta Goin of Houlton, and Clyde and Linnie Merry of Stacyville; 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; one sister, Thelma Drew of Houlton; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter at birth, her parents; three sisters, Helen, Mildred and Velma; a granddaughter, Susan; one great-granddaughter, Shaina; one great-great-grandson, Nicholas; and her dog, Barney.

Interment will be at Patten Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News posted 7/19/2011)
