Neva E, Meyers, of McCook, age 79, died Saturday June 17, 2000 at Bryan LGL east Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Neva was born August 2, 1920 at Trenton, Nebraska, to Clemet Samuel and Eliza Alice (Dewey) Fleming, Her mother died when she was five years old. She lived with various relatives until 1930, when she went to live with Pastor Morris and Alta Witzenburg. She moved moved back to Trenton and lived with her Sister Gladys to finish her Junior year of high school in Trenton in 1937.
She married Louis Arvene Myers on August 1, 1937 at Colby, Kansas. They would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary in August, They farmed south of Culbertson in the Stone Church area until 1983 They have lived in McCook since 1960.
She gave her life to Jesus at a very young age and loved the Lord deeply. She shared His love with her family and everyone she met. Especially dear to her were her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and sisters. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She inherited her caring and sharing personalily from her mother, Eliza, and this characteristic made her a real survivor. These have been good years, all due to the grace of God who has given many joys, some tears and a wide range of wonderful memories to posterity, relatives and friends.
she was a member of the McCook Christian Church and Ladies Missionary, the Indianola Church of Christ Missionary, Red Willow County Extension Club, Pink Ladies Hospital Auxilliary, Chapter GY, P.E.O. Good Sams Camping Club, and Order of Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters Alice Brott and Beulah " Boots" Jenkins: four brother-in-laws, Willis Brott, Eddie Thrumser, Bud Eskew and Gerald Myers, her "second parents" Morris & Alta Witzenburg and there sons Leonard, Lee and Glen Witzenburg.
Survivors include her husband, Arvene of McCook, three children, Richard and wife Jolene Myers of Boulder, Colorado, Cheryl and husband Jarry Beckenhauer of McCook, and Steven Myers of Boston, Massachusetts; two sisters June Eskew and Gladys Thumser both of McCook; one sister in law Virgina Myers of McCook; Paul Witzenburg of Lake Mary, Florida, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
